Further "Perils of Pip" ...

Went to the National Liberal last night .. when I was leaving I went to the loo .. came out to find that the Porter had left and locked up ... my bag, with my glasses and house keys, was locked in the luggage room ....

All I could do was go to the Hotel next door and ask for a room.

Got up and showered this morning, then pottered next door to the NLC to collect my bag .. and present the hotel bill to the Club Secretary .. which he agreed to pay .. good job too at their prices !

"There'll Always Be An England !" ~ 10/8/06

So the Forces of Evil try to take on Great Britain again. But we are ready for them ... Thanks to the vigilance of the Security Forces and our Brave Boys in Blue !

When will these people realise, they can't mess with Us ?

Land of Hope and Glory
Mother of the Free
How shall we extol thee
Who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider
Shall thy bounds be set
God, who made thee mighty
Make thee mightier yet...
God, who made thee mighty
Make thee mightier yet.

Xander and the "Monaco" Look .. ~ 9/8/06

Not having seen young Stephenson for some time, as he's been off on a Grand Tour of Eastern and Central Europe, finishing with a few weeks in Monaco .. we met up for Dinner at the NLC .. Below is a photo of Xander modelling the latest in Monaco chic ..

If that is Monaco for you, I'm backing Britain ....

Twas a fun evening, especially with Xander's stories, covering a brief stay in a jail cell after annoying a Border guard, a brush with a Dominatrix and a man who genuinely believed Marshal Tito had been Churchill's brother.

Sunday ~ 6/8/06

Up late ... lazy brekky ...

Up into Town ... mooched round, bumped into Paul W-S and his other half .. spent a bit of time with them.

Then wandered down to Hyde Park. Mooched round the Serpentine .. sniggering at the rollerbladers going arse-over-tit ... sat on the grass near a volleyball match .. wrote a letter to a friend serving in Iraq .. bimbled over to the Rose Garden and spent a pleaseant few hours reading Matthew Reilly's "Seven Ancient Wonders" .. its an action adventure .. sort of like a well written kind of "The Da Vinci Code" ... and listening to the radio on my phone.

Was still sitting there reading as dusk crept up .. just as the radio played Elgar ("Nimrod") and Vaughan Williams .. sitting listening to that on a summers evening in a rose garden was wonderfully elegiac ..

Then lots of strange men started lingering in the gathering gloom around the shrubbery, so I pushed off ... went and met Matt for a drink at Victoria.

Saturday ~ 5/8/06

rather lazy day ... Went and met Peter (who had just been an extra in a film - well I say film, everyone else said "Porn" ..) , had a picnic in St James' Park. All rather pleasant ...

After that we walkeed up into the West End and had a drink .. then he went off to the Cinema and I went off to join David, Matthew and Albert for a drink (or three) in Earls Court.

Then feeling a bit tired I headed off Home.
